Argus uptime overview

Argus watches public URLs and endpoints from Sensors you install. Xooshe Core schedules the work; Sensors run the probes from their regions.

Use Argus for customer-facing sites and APIs. Use Monitoring for CPU and memory inside the cluster.

Why it matters​

  • You see downtime from outside the cluster — closer to what customers experience.
  • Multiple Sensors show whether a failure is global or limited to one region.
  • History and incidents show whether an outage was a blip or a pattern.

What to do​

  1. Install an Argus Sensor on a Linux host.
  2. Create an uptime check for each public URL that matters and assign Sensors.
  3. Watch history and incidents on the Uptime tab.
  4. Optionally run stress tests against verified API hosts.

Naming and mistakes​

  • Argus is the product name — do not rename it to “uptime tool” in your own docs.
  • You need at least one Sensor before uptime checks can probe anything.
  • Do not use Argus as a substitute for in-cluster CPU/memory charts.
